The Yamaha has cool Art Deco soundholes.Īs always, your thoughts, concerns and snarky comments are appreciated!Ĭlick to expand. You can snicker if you wish, but the Grote 335-style I bought in 2019 is most impressive. I've had Schecter solid bodies, and the playability and quality are absolutely there. Backlunds are just plain cool, as is the Peerless Retromatic, sorta Duesenberg-ish. The Epi is a new model, and while I have no idea who Emily Wolfe is, I like the specs. ![]() I've not had any experience with Peerless, but they do a lot of guitars for others and the reviews are favorable. Here is my next foray in no particular order budget is roughly $700. I've had Fenders, Ibanezes, you name it, and just can't bond. Since then, I've probably been through a dozen different semis, from Epis to off brands to Gibson ES 235 (gave it to Nutz the Younger), 339s and an ES 137 I just sold (too thick, I think I'm a thinline guy). Had a Gibson ES 335 back in the day and stupidly sold it. Looking for a new semi-hollow mostly will play '70s funk covers.
